The hearts of many viewers will certainly skip a beat when wire-walkers – the participants of the Festival of Circus Performers 2009 - will be strolling on a line stretched between the roofs of the buildings of City Hall and Marshall's Office at Wieniawska Street. This year's festival, which from 31 July to 2 August will turn Lublin's Old Town in a circus arena, is a very special event as it boasts the best in the world clowns, acrobats, jugglers and other circus performers.
It is the second time the festival is going to entertain Lubliners and its guests. The international format of the event will be ensured by the presence of performers from France, Spain, Italy Finland and Argentina.
Apart from street shows and performances in a circus tent, the organizers have also prepared workshops in clowning, juggling and acrobatics for both amateurs and professionals.
The new element of the event will be performances of Urban Highline (8th -9th August) – an extreme form of highlining which involves walking across a rope spread between two buildings. It is, as it were, a protest against the concrete reality that surrounds us. The highlining performances will take place between the buildings of City Hall, Mareshall’s Office on Wieniawska-Lubomiejska Street. For those who would like to taste a bit of the thrill highlining offers, the performers have prepared a shorter line spread between two trees.
